Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Love Greggs. The people who work in Greggs are the friendliest, most down to earth people and they have to put up with all kinds of crap from some customers but never seem to let it get to them. Hope the staff are paid well and looked after by management. The Food is great as well.

I visited Greggs today and had a very disappointing experience unfortunately, it was exactly the same as last week.
During my visit the previous week, I ended up waiting 40 minutes just to be served, which completely took up my entire 30 minute lunch break. The situation behind the till was chaotic, with a clear lack of leadership and direction. There were only two members of staff working, and while they were doing their best under pressure, it was obvious they were overwhelmed.
Today’s visit was no different. The shop simply cannot cope with the volume of both in-store customers and online orders at the same time. The system in place isn’t working, and it’s leading to long delays and frustrated customers.
I want to be clear that this is not a criticism of the staff they are trying hard in what looks like a very difficult situation. However, the store itself feels completely dysfunctional, and the lack of support and organisation is very noticeable.
In my opinion, this location urgently needs attention from an area manager to address the staffing levels, processes, and overall management. As it stands, this has been one of the worst experiences I’ve had at Greggs, and the fact it has happened repeatedly suggests a serious ongoing issue.

The service is terrible. Queuing out of the door and only 1 person serving. JOKE. IF I COULD GIVE 1/2 A STAR I WOULD.

Truly the epitome of the fast food restaurant. A Greggs, in my opinion as a teen boy, is superior to any other food place. It's cheap, has good food and is instant with kind hearted workers

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
