We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

Went back in, guy at counter was on his phone. Did not look up for a good few minutes until I said something. Asked for the roll to be heated up or exchanged. They said no to both requests. I asked why and he just looked at me with a blank stare. I've never not been to a Greggs where they did not exchange an item for being too cold. Looking at reviews, this looks to be going on for years. This place needs to be shut down

From the customer service to the blatant food hygiene issues I'm amazed it's still going. As said in prior reviews they never seem have any food that's warm and when you ask for warm food they give you a blank stare. My partner got food and I was next in line to grab a morning snack and the cashier just turned around and started laughing and joking with the fella behind him leaving me standing there like some kind of fool waiting to be served. While waiting for my food I witnessed money changing hands then directly dealing with food without washing them first and the cashier wiping something from his eye and then dealing with a gentleman's order. As someone with prior experience working in that type of role if someone was to come in and witness what I did today the place would be closed for sure. I would highly recommend anyone wanting a Greggs go into town and get one from the one on the highstreet.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
