About

Bakery
We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth. Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks. Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Bundle on whichever side takes your fancy. We’re talking crispy Southern Fried Potato Wedges, a classic bag of crisps, protein-packed egg pots, fruit pots or creamy yoghurt. Plus, grab a drink to top it all off. From a classic Latte or a Mocha to a Raspberry Lemonade or a crisp Iced Mango & Strawberry Cooler – it’s yours. Pre-order on Click + Collect to skip the queue like a VIP, or get what you want delivered to your door via Just Eat or Uber Eats. Whichever way you have it - there’s definitely one thing better than a Greggs – and that’s a FREE Greggs. The Greggs App has never been tastier. Packed full of seriously stomach-rumbling news, rewards and ways to order – it really is the inner circle for all things yummy. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to bag some free treats - and who doesn’t love a free treat?

I visited this Greggs recently and, overall, had a really positive experience. A particular shoutout to the red-haired staff member who served me; friendly, efficient and genuinely pleasant throughout. They clearly take pride in their work, and that kind of customer service really makes a difference. One thing I did notice, though, was another customer being unnecessarily rude and impatient while the staff were in the middle of cleaning the store. From what I saw, the team were simply doing their job and trying to keep the shop clean and safe. There’s really no need to give staff a hard time for that, especially when they’re already working under pressure. So, while there’s always room for improvement in any store, the service I received was excellent. The red-haired team member deserves recognition for how professionally they handled things. Hopefully more customers remember that basic patience and respect go a long way.

A two-star food review and yet still five-star overall because of the staff, quite frankly. I walked in in the morning, and it was a long day ahead of me, a lot of driving. And I just came up to the counter, and Matthew behind the counter, young lad, just gave us a bit of cheek and a smile. There was a driver right beside me who we, we both got a bit of personality, and I don't think he realized how much it meant. When you're doing a lot of miles in front of you and the roads as hard as they are these days, it makes a difference to just take a break and actually get somebody being a bit nice and a bit joyous with you, with you. The driver beside me was looking at a long drive up to Invergordon and probably not making it in one run. He'd already had problems the night before with his vehicle being broken into, and yet we could both smile with just a bit of niceness being given to us in, God forbid, a Greggs. I'm sorry, your bacon's not that good, your rolls aren't that good, and neither's your coffee. But when you give service like that, you're getting five stars from me, most definitely. Why? Because it made a difference. Thank you very much for really caring. And whoever the manager is of this store, both him and actually the older lady who was on that day need a wee pat on the back. I know working in that sort of a job, you never really get a chance to make a connection, but they did to us. Thank you very much.

So handy when your in between coach journeys but unfortunately the service wasn't great 1st the pensioners at the Greg's where really rude jumping infront with a rude demeanor and staff served them 1st. Then my pasty was cold and flat, my donut topping was all stuck to the bag, a peace of baking paper could of solved that. Then I ordered an ice coffee the staff didn't understand that the sugar should be added before the ice for Obvious reasons, the staff looked at me like I was insane when I brought it up and I left with a very gritty iced coffee after Sugaring my I've coffee with packet sugar lol train your staff Mr Greg.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
