  Ate dinner and breakfast here as part of an overnight stay at the nearby Premier Inn. A good variety of meals, steaks, grills, burgers and drinks deals are available. The layout is good and not cramped with too many tables. Overall the restaurant is kept very clean with friendly staff. The quality of the food is good and well proportioned. If the bar service is taking many orders, you may experience a slight delay in getting drinks. Advisable to book in advance via the website. Nice restaurant, good value for money.

  We had Lewis who was really lovely. He understood my dietary requirements and was very quick with service. It was rather quiet, and the food was good. I had the Bonoffee cheesecake which was delicious.

  Walked through the door with no greeting at all — I was immediately asked for my room number before even being offered a menu or shown to a table. I was then told about the buffet and informed that I needed to pay before being seated, despite never having been here before or having the chance to look at the menu properly. I said it seemed a bit strange to expect payment before even allowing customers to sit down and decide what they wanted. The staff member on reception responded rudely, saying I shouldn’t say things like that about the business. As a first-time visitor, I simply wanted to sit down, look through the menu, and decide whether I wanted to eat there. Instead, I was not allowed to sit at a table unless I paid first, so I decided to leave. As I was leaving, the same staff member rudely commented, “that would be for the best.” The customer service and overall welcome into this restaurant were disgraceful. I would never return or recommend this place to anyone.

  Overall unpleasant experience, would not go back. We walked into the restaurant and waited around five minutes to be seated, despite it being nearly empty with plenty of staff around. We sought out a staff member to seat us, as we were not being served at the front of house. We were asked twice if we had a reservation, despite it being nearly empty, and were made to feel like burdens for requesting a table. We ordered two cocktails, one came and was incorrect, to which the waiter place the blame on us. The other one didn’t have all the ingredients outlined on the menu, we tried to confirm if it was the correct cocktail twice to which we were dismissed. We ordered the steak and ale pie, the rump steak with chips and peas, the rocket, cheese and tomato salad, and seasoned corn ribs. When the food came out, the seasoned corn ribs had NO seasoning on them with water at the bottom of the bowl. We had to request for them to be seasoned, to which he took them away and seasoned the COB part of the corn. The rocket salad was wilted and flavourless, and the gravy was like thin, brown, water. The main meals were fine overall, the sides were a letdown. We then went on to order dessert, thinking this couldn’t be messed up. A sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, this was okay, and the banoffee cheesecake with vanilla ice cream, which was powdery and unable to be eaten. The real highlight was when we asked to pay cash at the end, which received a rude reaction. The staff didn’t tell us where we needed to pay and acted like we’d offered our first born as payment instead of cash. The lady with the gray hair rudely took us back to a till, change owed was 36p which would’ve been too much of a tip. She made a sarcastic comment about us following her to the bar to get our change and didn’t hand me the change back, but put it down on the bar and walked off. She also needs to be aware that we have ears and eyes and could see her talking badly about us wanting our change to the bartender next to her. We know 36p is nothing, but it’s the principle of it. 10/10 do not recommend, but the retail park Burger King down the road is really good!!

  Terrible experience from the start. Decided to stay because I was starving. Did not feel welcomed by the rude and arrogant hostess ( an old lady with grey hair) who yelled at us because we were looking for a table to sit, after not having been greeted at the entrance. Got the sirloin lunch special and was overcharged when asking for the check. Notified the same rude hostess about the mistake and she got annoyed with us for asking about it. Once we received the updated check, we noticed she had only corrected one lunch special meal, and not the second lunch meal which was the exact order. Food was decent. The other young waitress was nice and friendly. Avoid going on Mondays, when the rude hostess works. The woman is obviously terrible at her job.
