Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

I've also been here before with my partner, every time we buy hot hot it's cold, won't go again. SO IF YOU HAVE A DOG AND WANT LUNCH GO TO COSTA, NEROS, WEATHERSPOONS, ALL OTHER INDEPENDENT FOOD OUTLETS, GREENKING PUBS ALL WELCOME PEOPLE WITH A DOG IN TO HAVE FOOD... GREGGS WHATS THE PROBLEM. What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
