Came back as last year was brilliant. Sound nit picky but has this place had a refurb and if so should staff not be better trained. Had 2 drinks then ordered food guy who had chef apron on behind bar ? When I ordered food did not ask if off main or lunch menu 16.45 do I have to state. Do I have any allergens not asked ordered scampi, garden or mushy peas not asked . Food came waited for cutlery and condiments no vinegar and mayo empty. Come on guys check before opening in a morning. Have worked in trade for 20 years and all the little things mean a lot. No check back on table even when came to clear not even an acknowledgement. On a positive note food was great how and fast out of kitchen but come on guys attention to detail is paramount xx

Small portions, mushy peas comes in a condiments pot, pies arnt very big and just run of the mill shop bought. Didn't have the full menu available even though the pub wasn't busy at all. Meals didn't come out correct, very few chips too. We didn't get the usual great value for money that was always given prior to being taken over, very disappointed

We have popped into the Granby for a pint and a meal many times over the years when we visit Whitby, good value & a nice pint. It has now had a refit and it seems very nice decor although there are some teething problems… Main issue was that the bitter wasn’t served very well, tried all three on the pumps and they were all flat with no head at all…maybe stick to the lager? For the food we were advised that they serve until 8pm, when we tried to order at 7:35 we were then told that they stopped taking orders at 7:30 so left hungry!!. Food prices have all increased since our last visit but I guess that’s life. We will try again later in the week, hopefully the beer is better by then!!

If I could give a zero for the food and 'service' I would! I ordered a falafel and salad. The salad consisted of bits of salad in the flatish wrap. The falafel was a redish beetroot colour which came with about 8 oven chips. The food did not taste fresh at all. We ordered 2 teas which came in a pot for 1 at £6! The tea was not hot and when we repeatedly complained, we were told by the quite rude young male and female working there, that 'there was steam coming off the tea' and the boiler used won't get any hotter and 'that's just how it comes'. When we said the tea clearly wasn't hot and we drank the tea in a couple of gulps, due to it not being hot, again we were told it was hot and that's the way it comes! I suggested that as their boiler was not producing hot tea, as we and most people like it, a kettle could be used! We were then told that, 'we aren't allowed to use a kettle!' I've worked in catering for years and never heard such nonsense! We were not offered a refund for the lukewarm tea or a replacement. Before the tea and food was served, I paid and noticed I had been over charged by about £2.60. This was returned to me and the young male complained that the menu prices were difficult to understand! All in all, appalling customer service, poor food and drink. No wonder there was hardly anyone in there at lunch time! We will never return.
