  Very poor service of standard pub grub at an inflated price. Lovely building though. We chose whitebait, belly pork bites and calamari to start. The belly pork bites didn't come. We mentioned this when they came to clear and were asked if we wanted them with mains. We did finally get them after being offered other diners' starters a few times. I had mixed grill. I asked for my steak to be blue. I was told I couldn't have it blue for health and safety reasons so I asked for as rare as they dared. It came medium to well done. The chicken burger was small and tasteless and the flatiron chicken meal was just a lump of chicken and a plate of chips with a small green garnish. The chips on all meals were awful. Pale, soft oven chips. (Our dog enjoyed them). We asked for English Mustard, Mayonnaise and ketchup. It never came despite asking for it three times. We won't be returning.

  Whislt away for a short break we found this lovely pub. We went with the lunch menu, offering a good choice of dishes and really delicious food. We chose the seabass risotto and steak sandwich, both delish. Followed by a coffee and mini cake - lemon meringue. The team were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and would whole heartedly recommend a visit.

  We visited The Prince Rupert last night for the first time after hearing it was dog friendly, and we had such a lovely evening! The food was absolutely brilliant. I had the Dirty Burger and my friend had the three sides deal and we were both really impressed with the quality. You can tell the food is freshly made and although there was a bit of a wait, it was definitely worth it, everything was delicious! There was also a live country singer on while we were there who was brilliant and really added to the atmosphere. It was just such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and being able to bring our doggy along was a massive bonus. 🐶 The owners and all the staff were fantastic and looked after us really well throughout our visit. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be coming back. A really lovely dog friendly pub with great food, great staff and a brilliant atmosphere. Highly recommend! ❤️

  First time here in newarks oldest pub. Had ordered crispy chicken burger & fries. Without tomatoes or pickle. Then after a wait of about ten minutes they came to me n said they’re was no crispy chicken so I had chicken breast. After another wait of around thirty minutes my food came. Tomato on & pickles!! So when I’d nearly finished it a waiter came to me to see if it was okay. I said I didn’t want tomato n pickles he said he couldn’t recall me saying that yet he repeated it after I’d said it !!! It was yummy food though but even so. Well at least I’ve tried the Prince Rupert probably won’t go again

  Booked a group of 7. We discovered when we arrived that they had clearly lost our booking. However, despite it being a Saturday evening the waiter was very accommodating although clearly stressed. He cobbled two unmade tables together for us upstairs and we were seated. Advised that there would be a 40 minute wait for food, which we accepted. Unfortunately it was around 20 minutes before he came back to take our drink order, admitted that the kitchen was busy so refused to take our food order. Drinks arrived and he took our food order. We waited an hour and a half before our mains arrived and everything was burnt except an order of risotto. We didn't stay for dessert. Wait staff were great but the food was very below par.
