  I can't say it's great, but it works most of the time for me .The prices are a bit higher than other chain stores.

  Handy small Supermarket with a Petrol forecourt And a surprisingly big Parking lot to the side. They also have a well thought out Entry (at the Grey Park Wall - so going into Town go just Past the petrol pumps - there is a Central Turn-in Lane [PLEASE USE IT! ] The Exit has TWO Lanes, (although there are a Significant number of Idiots stop in the middle & Don't use Indicators*! And NEVER DRIVE ALONGSIDE A DELIVERY LORRY, They Require A LARGE Turning Radius, and You and your Car May Be In THEIR 'Blind Spot' ! 1 Lane is 'Right Turn!' to go into Town &1 is 'Left Turn!' towards Tesco/Castlewellan. That was a palaver for Just getting into to Petrol pumps & Parking !! (BTW: The ATM is on the End Wall as U turn in, just past the Gates) The Shop itself is a real variety of, well basically Everything! There are several aisles and they're a bit tight with two Trolleys/Shopping Carts, but the Shops more tends to Impulse Buying - passing by and saying, "Oh, that's cheap !" so taking just a Basket will save on trying a 'balancing act' - been there And literally Done That ! There's a lot of variety of Brands and Items you Won't get in Tesco, up the road - which is why I'm not allowed in on my own, except to get Petrol ! But I like it because of the buying on a whim thing, it's never too full to move and you don't have to Stop every 5mins! Well... except from 5pm to 6:30pm - The "Dinner Crowd"! - Not for any Cafe or such, but people in for their dinner from the Hot Food Counter - men home from Work who want a "proper dinner!", people who don't want to Start 'cooking a dinner' after they've worke all day, then had to "commute" home - If you've ever done it, when a 50min drive turns into a 90 minute stress fest, then you'll know why a "commuter-belt" Town like Newcastle has So many Takeaways! But the good/Best? thing about this SPAR is its "Home Cooked" Food, where you can get really nice food And a Dessert for After, without standing in a long queue waiting for your Manky Burger/Chicken in a Bucket! Summary: A quirky Shop with a unique layout that requires a basket to put in All the Stuff you didn't realise you needed! A good sized Parking Lot - although the 6 Spaces at the Front of the Shop should be 3 Disabled and 3 wider Baby & Toddler Spots. And finally the folks who work there ! In any retail business good people who know their regulars And can treat New customers as if they are regulars, will always be ahead of the game. This wee Supermarket, from its origin as Fairprices to Carlisles to SPAR has always managed to keep going - even when Tesco was built on their doorstep -which has been the end of more than one Local shop everywhere - they've diversified and found their niche with Good Customer care, Early Coffee & Tea Breakfast Service for folks on their way to work, a great Range of Products that differ from what Tesco and Lidl offer - with a smile, a Hello or even a quick little conversation that makes You, the customer, feel like You, the friend. And with That small difference, you want to go back again. Good Customer Service is Everything in these days of Shop Cheap/Shop Online with free or low cost Delivery - I Prefer People! 👍✌POD☘🖖
