Zizzi Nottingham is officially my new obsession. Honestly, if you haven’t checked it out yet, you’re missing out big time. I’ve gone a couple of times now to slowly work my way through the menu, and I genuinely haven't had a single bad bite. Between us, we’ve ordered the beef lasagna, a separate cheesy mozzarella garlic bread, those amazing prawns on a skewer, a bunch of different pizzas, and a round of desserts, and every single thing has been an absolute home run.
Let's talk about the vibe for a second because it hits you the second you walk through the doors. The place is surprisingly massive—there are genuinely plenty of seats, so even when it’s buzzing on a busy night, you don't feel like you're trapped or sitting right on top of the next table. Plus, they’ve got an open kitchen layout. I am an absolute sucker for an open kitchen. Sitting there watching the chefs stretch dough, fling pizzas into blistering hot ovens, and hustle away brings so much life and energy to the entire room. It makes dinner feel like a bit of a show.
Now, onto the food, because that’s why we’re all here. Let’s clear up a crucial detail: do not miss out on getting the cheesy mozzarella garlic bread alongside the prawns on a skewer. The garlic bread is everything you want it to be—pillowy soft, dripping in rich garlic butter, and blanketed in a thick, gooey layer of melted mozzarella that pulls apart in strings. Pair that with the prawns on a skewer, which come out hot, smoky, and packed with flavor, and you’ve got yourself an elite starter combo.
Then there’s the beef lasagna. It is proper, soul-warming comfort food—deep layers of a rich, slow-cooked meat ragu, tender pasta sheets, and a thick, bubbling layer of cheese melted right over a gorgeous bechamel sauce. It’s heavy, yes, but in the absolute best way possible. Their pizzas are equally elite, featuring a thin, crispy base with that nice charred leopard-spotting on the crust straight from the oven, and toppings that actually taste fresh and punchy.
We saved room for dessert too, and let me tell you, they certainly don't phone it in at the end of the meal. Whatever you pick from the sweet menu, just go for it—it's the ultimate rich, decadent finish to a great meal.
Is it cheap? No, let's be real. It’s a bit on the expensive side if you're looking for a quick, casual bite. But honestly? It is 100% worth it for a visit, especially for special occasions, date nights, or just when you want to treat yourself and know the food is actually going to deliver. You get what you pay for, and the overall experience justifies the bill.
Also, a massive shout out to the staff because they make the experience ten times better. Terrific is the only word for them. Everyone from the person seating you to the servers buzzing around the floor is genuinely warm, fast, and attentive without hovering awkwardly. You can tell they actually care about making your time there great.
One final piece of advice—take this as absolute gospel: download their app before you walk in. Seriously, make use of it. They always have exclusive offers, stamps, or rewards floating around on there, and it actually saves you some cash or gets you a nice little freebie.
Five stars from me, no hesitation. Zizzi Nottingham, you beauty
