  The Fleece is under new management (again!) so it’s changed a bit since I last visited… I don’t know who, if anyone, cleans the toilets in this place, but I hope to God the staff aren’t using the same ones we are. They’re filthy! I’ve asked multiple staff members on three separate occasions to put some soap in the gents loo, and after two weeks of trying, there’s still no soap. The tap didn’t even work until I personally fixed it, for crying out loud! Oh, and there’s no lock on the trap door either (there’s literally a hardware shop behind the venue!) Other than that, the staff are all very pleasant but haven’t the faintest idea of cellar management. In two weeks of visiting, I rarely saw more than one of the five ale pumps active, and never more than two. I watched while a barrel was changed, and I kid you not, a QUARTER of a pint was pulled off with a single pull before turning the tag back around and walking away. The beer they pulled off was already in the pump! I never once saw water, let alone line cleaner being pulled through any pumps or taps, and needless to say, any ales I tried tasted awful, so I stuck with keg beers. I also witnessed customers taste the ale they’d just purchased, and get up and walk straight out. Frankly any pub that can’t look after their ales shouldn’t be trusted with kegs either, so i guess I kept going back out of disbelief that it couldn’t possibly be this bad (it always used to be very good in the past)

  Food was excellent, very tasty. The service was a bit slow as there was not enough staff, logan and millie though have worked their socks off, so thank you for your service. The pub overall needs a lot of work doing inside and the toilets need ripping out and rebuilding as they are in a terrible state as are the ladies.

  It was Bank Holiday Sunday so we did expect it to be busy so booked a table in advance. When we arrived, we were a little early and so sat out the back, in the "beer garden". We had to move seats a couple of times because, if you sat near the drains the smell was unpleasant. When it started to rain, we went in and stood at the bar (as we could see, from signs on the tables, that others were sitting enjoying a drink at the table reserved for us) and 5 minutes before our booking, we advised the waiter we were there and he kindly asked the people at our table to move and cleaned it for us. (I don't want my review to be considered personal or mean but our waiter smelt like he had had a very busy day). When the waiter bought us our menu's he advised of a number of things they had run out of, including the Sunday roasts (what we came for) and we discussed whether we should have just gone somewhere else and in hindsight I wish we had. I had the beef pie with chips and "seasonal veg", my other half had a double burger and chips and we ordered a side of "pigs in blankets" for our Rottweiler. When our meals came the portion size did not match the price given to the meals....I got about 20(ish) chips, the pie and some peas (not the "seasonal veg" expected) and my other half got his burger and again, a very small amount of chips. The food wasn't bad, just not much of it and the peas were hard. The "pigs in blankets" were beyond crunchy but the dog didn't complain. We were going to have a dessert but following the disappointment of the mains we decided to head to the Gelato shop round the corner (such a good choice). I decided to go to the WC before we left and I am so glad it was at the end of my meal, as I wouldn't have eaten at this pub if I'd gone before!!!!

  Stumbled across this place whilst on holiday in the area and decided to book in for a meal. Very easy to book did this online and the place is dog friendly which is perfect for us as we didnt want to leave the dog. There were 7 of us and we all had a variety of dishes which were absolutely gorgeous the food here is amazing.... sampled the cocktails too which were equally delicious and reasonably priced.. only wish we lived nearer as we would eat here regularly however will definitely be booking again next time we come on holidays... thanks you to the team for great service!

  MUST BOOK TO GUARANTEE A TABLE. Tried this with my parents on opening day - quick service, friendly staff and lovely to see the owners working the shift too. A male young member of staff stood out to us as dealing extremely well with a difficult customer who hadn't booked. We later revisited just for drinks and it was still as clean, friendly and enjoyable to sit inside. Any customers wishing to sit down for food, especially on a Sunday, I strongly advise you book in advance as they were extremely busy and had to turn people away who wanted walk-ins. Only minor inconvenience was people who were not customers, walking in to only use the toilet and then leave without supporting the business. This was a little off-putting with a slight disruption to the atmosphere. Otherwise it was great service, great staff, great food! We will be back again.
