About

Bakery
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Staff sitting at customer tables, noisy, the guy serving took for ever to put in details of our food. Child belonging to staff running around. Bit like a backstreet market.

Attempted to purchase food waited for aprox 10 min to be served 1 customer in front. Colleague on till seemed to be on his own and round the back. When he did eventually serve person one in front of me seemed confused by till and how to add items. When it was my turn I then noticed at least 3 flys inside counter landing on doughnuts and all hot savoury pastry. Told guy serving me counter had flys 🪰 inside it he seemed confused and gave me zero confidence he was gonna resolve issue. I did not purchase anything due to breach in food safety. Pizza in counter looked very dry too.

staff are rude, just a bunch of young people talking in there own language between themselves laughing and joking leaving customers waiting for no apparent reason. i then asked for my sweet treats in a box i was told i have to buy them from the counter that are already boxed, well i wanted 2 different things and they were adamant they have to put them in different bags. never in any other greggs in the country i’ve been too has it been an issue using a box, it’s what there behind the till for no? and then my bacon sausage roll, well next time just throw it all in the bag and shake it up may aswell do that as that’s how it is. wouldn’t recommend going here

Employees seemed a bit disorganised this morning and didn't know what they were doing. Perhaps it was a new member of staff I don't know. When I asked for a breakfast roll I was told they wouldn't be ready until 7am. I came away disappointed. It depends on who is working to how good the service is.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
