Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

- KKKarl2 days ago2.0Probably the worst Greggs I visit. Staff are lovely and I'm sure doing their best but it takes an age to get served even if the queue isn't that long. And you'd think the sandwiches would have a quick turnover, thereby keeping the sandwich line fresh, but there's been a few times I've visited in the morning where I'm sure they've been out all night. They've rarely got a decent hot food selection either, always very sparse. I visit various different Greggs almost daily so whilst this isn't a terrible location by any stretch of the imagination, it's definitely subpar for Greggs.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
