Yesterday evening we ordered pizza and garlic bread here, the food was very disappointing… pizza and garlic bread were undercooked, lukewarm, bland & rubbery. Also, it took far too long for the food to arrive.

So if the internet’s anything to go by (and it’s not like it’s ever been unreliable) people apparently hate Domino’s and I’m in the minority who absolutely love it, and to the disgust of Italians, would take it over most. It’s a guilty pleasure, and whenever I get a restaurant pizza or a more authentic pizza, deep down I’m craving it. The internet persuaded me to give Papa Johns a go because a lot said it was far superior and was as good as chains get. I was skeptical but excised to try it out. I must say I was very disappointed. The cheese and tomato was fine but I found it lacking in flavour. The cheese stuffed crust was by far the worst stuffed crust I’ve ever had and one of the worst things I’ve tasted. I never waste food and yet couldn’t finish it. The Bombay pizza I was particularly looking forward to try given the hype but fell short yet again. The chilli cheese bites were fine but far from the best I’ve had, towards the bottom end. The tandoori bites again were just alright. The chilli dip was far too mild. The garlic butter was also really hyped up and again, disappointed me though this I can at least see why people would really like it. I was left scratching my head at what I was missing, why it’s so hyped and why most seem to prefer this way more to Domino’s. I did however, since find out that this particular store has quite a low rating so perhaps it’s more a reflection of the location rather than Papa Johns itself. I usually check the rating but it was a bit of a rushed decision. I wouldn’t go back to this store, I would consider giving Papa Johns one more go just to see if I’m missing something. Controversially though, I’ll be sticking to Domino’s as my go-to for takeout pizza.
