Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

- NLNatasha LangthorneJul 27, 20265.0It’s not often that customer service impresses me enough to leave a review, but this absolutely deserved one. We visited Greggs at Westfield London today, and the young gentleman serving on the till at around 6:00–6:30pm was exceptional. Every customer was greeted with warmth, respect and genuine kindness. He was attentive, polite, patient and incredibly professional, even though the store was very busy and appeared short staffed. What stood out wasn’t just how efficiently he worked, but the way he made people feel. He communicated brilliantly, smiled throughout and treated every customer as though they genuinely mattered. I was with my 16-year-old son, who even commented on how impressive he was without me saying a word. That says everything. In a world where great customer service can sometimes feel hard to find, this young man was a breath of fresh air and an absolute credit to Greggs. I hope he receives the recognition he deserves because employees like him make a lasting impression.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
