Shocking service from their customer service counter ( not for the first time) Visited the store today and didn’t have a £1 coin for the trolley. I requested a trolley from customer services and was met with the response that ‘we can’t give money for trolleys’ . I clarified that I don’t need the money, just for him to unlock the trolley and was met with further resistance. Having worked in retail for years when I was younger, this would never of happened in stores that I worked at. Staff clearly aren’t being trained properly. It’s unsurprising that this store has gone downhill the last few years. One would have to question a business model that turns away a £100+ weekly shop for the sake of £1. Fortunately Waitrose round the corner provide tons of free trolleys for their customers… Definitely won’t be visiting this store again.

Very convenient for a quick stop in central Richmond and, for an Express branch, it actually has a surprisingly good breadth and variety of products. There is enough choice across groceries, snacks, drinks, ready meals and everyday essentials that I can usually find what I need without having to go to a larger supermarket. My main frustration is the self-checkout area. It can be quite slow, particularly when the machines need approval or assistance, and that sometimes takes away from what should otherwise be a very quick visit. Overall, though, it is a useful and well-located Tesco Express with a better range than I would normally expect from a smaller branch.
