About

RestaurantMediterranean RestaurantEdwardian Hotels
Drawing from the coastlines and kitchens of France, Italy, Greece, and beyond, Whitcomb’s brings the breadth and soul of Mediterranean dining to the heart of London, nestled between St. James and Soho. The dishes are fresh, elegant, and perfect for lunch, dinner, private dining experiences, or a pre/post-theatre meal. As a West End restaurant, we’re just a stone’s throw from theatres such as the London Coliseum, Gielgud Theatre, Duke of York’s Theatre, and more. During the summer, join us to bask in the sunshine on our terrace by Veuve Clicquot, a prime spot for alfresco dining on Leicester Square, serving Champagne tasting flights, cocktails and fresh cuisine. Before your meal, we invite you to enjoy a pre-dinner drink at the nearby gin bar, Joshua’s Tavern, or in the Japanese rooftop garden, 8 at The Londoner.

Had a lovely dinner outside with my daughter. Our server Ripon’s suggestions were excellent. We really enjoyed both the Tuscan Cod and the Lobster Linguine, and the “Glow” salad was a great fresh first course. Highly recommend for a casual but delicious meal.

Had a great dining experience. The food was delicious, with excellent quality and flavor. The service was equally impressive—friendly, attentive, and efficient. A special thanks to Ripon, our waiter, who was always smiling, welcoming, and very helpful throughout the meal. His positive attitude made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended, and I look forward to visiting again!

Amazing impromptu afternoon. The beautiful atmosphere appealed to us to “pop” in for a drink. After finding out that Whitcombs have partnered with verve clicquot we were talked through the specials by Mohammed. Anna served us the crisp beautiful glass of verve clicquot to pair with the beer battered chips, and whipped feta and hot honey dip. I don’t know which was more delicious! An amazing afternoon, well looked after, we will definitely return

Caveat emptor! Here, there be scams. Truly disappointed by our experience this Monday at Whitcomb’s. Was never informed of the surcharge for water, water charge was not on the menu, and ended up spending about £20 on water. The waiters kept shamelessly prompting us to order more, making us believe that it was complimentary or, like most restaurants, a modest fee considering it is filtered in-house and not even brand name. Look, we have no problem paying £20 per cocktail. But an unnoted charge of £6.50 per bottle of house filtered water is unacceptable. You’d expect such tomfoolery at a tourist trap, but not at a luxury hotel. Instead of leaving our date night dinner having enjoyed our meal, we left feeling quite scammed. We were equally disappointed with the response of the restaurant, who shrugged off our feedback and did nothing to make it right or assure us that this wouldn’t happen to other customers in the future. Also, I find it unconscionable that you’d call yourself a luxury restaurant in a luxury hotel and not have black napkins for guests wearing dark clothing. White napkins transfer and can leave unseemly cloth residue on clothing, as it did that evening with mine when I was informed there were no black napkins. That’s basic stuff, guys. Not acceptable for somewhere that thinks charging guests £6.50 for house per bottle of house filtered without bothering to inform their clientele first is a proper way to run a business.
