Your staff are so rude. I came in the store today to get safety pins and not one was the first guy completely rude when I asked him about if he could see if yall have it in the back he was giving me dirty looks and just being outrightly rude so I walked to another staff they asked me the same question then had his back turned to me whilst I asked if he can look in the back he said “we don’t do that”

1-star review
I went to this Piccadilly store specifically to buy something fresh from the self-service food counter, such as vegetables or a salad. The counter initially seems like a good idea, but on both occasions I approached it today, I witnessed something that completely put me off buying anything.
At approximately 3:10 pm, I saw a customer repeatedly lift the shared serving spoons and bring the food and utensils extremely close to his nose to smell several different items, before returning the spoons to the trays. The security guard nearby did absolutely nothing.
At approximately 3:40 pm, I saw a man whose clothes appeared heavily soiled take one of the larger containers provided by the store and fill it to an extraordinary level with food from the same counter. He was actually heading towards the tills to pay, but the security guard stopped him and told him to leave without paying and not to worry about it. I watched the entire interaction and saw him leave carrying the food.
What disturbed me most was not merely the behaviour of the individuals involved, but the complete lack of concern from the person responsible for supervising the area. In the first incident, seriously unhygienic behaviour was ignored; in the second, the guard actively instructed someone not to pay.
Tesco needs to decide what kind of environment it wants to provide. Paying customers will simply walk away when hygiene standards are ignored and staff actively encourage people to take products without paying. There are appropriate services for people in need, but a supermarket should not abandon basic hygiene, security and payment standards at the expense of its paying customers.
Two visits out of two, and on both occasions I witnessed something unacceptable involving this open food counter. It may look like a good idea, but it is clearly being managed extremely poorly. After what I saw today, I will never buy anything from this counter.
I go to this Tesco every day, and I just wanted to say how amazing Mehtap is. She is genuinely one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and I really hope she gets the recognition she deserves. Mehtap, if you see this, I hope you know how appreciated you are by me, and I'm sure by so many other people too. 💕
