- GVGeraldo VieiraJul 14, 20261.0I had a very disappointing experience at the Tesco on Blackfriars Road. I stopped by on my way home from work to pick up a couple of things. When I got to the entrance, the shutters were halfway down and there was a security guard on the door. Because of that, I simply asked, “Are you guys still open?” Instead of just answering the question, the security guard immediately became rude and said, “Are you blind? Can’t you see we’re open? Why else would the doors be open?” I calmly explained that I was only asking because the shutters were halfway down. I’ve seen plenty of shops where the doors are still open to let the last few customers out, but they’re no longer letting anyone else in, so it seemed like a perfectly reasonable question. There was absolutely no need for that attitude. I was just a customer trying to buy a couple of items, not someone looking for an argument. This experience has put me off returning to this store. It also makes me question how much customer service training Tesco provides to its security staff. If you work in retail and deal with the public, basic courtesy and communication skills should be a fundamental part of the job. A simple, polite answer would have taken far less effort than speaking to a customer in such a disrespectful way.
