The wet hand towels provided at the start of the meal had a strong, foul odour. This is a major red flag for bacterial growth. In a sushi restaurant where diners heavily rely on using their hands to eat, dirty towels create an immediate risk of cross-contamination and food poisoning. The customer service unfortunately matched the low hygiene standards. When I raised the issue and asked to speak with a manager, I was left waiting at my table for 15 minutes. Nobody ever showed up, so I paid the bill and decided to leave.By pure accident, I ran into the manager at the entrance on my way out. When I brought up the issue, she claimed that the floor staff had never even informed her that a customer was waiting to speak with her. Anyway, I told her about the stinky wet towel and I would write a review on google. I don't know whether they will do something with the towel.

Quite an average Roka, I found it lacking compared to other locations like Charlotte St., in terms of service, food taste and decor. Inside it’s dim and boring, the menu hasn’t changed in a long time, and some items are less tasty than other locations. Had to flag down the waiter to order, which happens sometimes when it’s busy but still leaves a meh taste since service charge is 14.5% and they ask for a small donation for some foundation also.

Thank you, Greta and Grace, for your wonderful hospitality. Both of you are so professional and kind, and you truly went out of your way, which I really appreciate. Roka is always a great vibe with fantastic food and atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

Great food. Service okish but very unfriendly staff. The minute we sat down a suited waiter came over quite aggressively asking us for drinks and edame. We ordered but wound have preferred to sit down first. Despite say it was my daughter’s birthday this was not acknowledged despite several celebrations around us.

Where do I start? The tables are positioned far too close together. Whenever the waiting staff serve the table next to you, their elbows are practically in your face while you're trying to eat or drink. It completely removes any sense of comfort or relaxation, as these interruptions are frequent, unavoidable, and unpredictable. We were also not informed that dishes are served "when they're ready" (similar to Wagamama's style). I'm not sure whether this is standard policy at Roka, but if it is, customers should be told in advance. Each dish arrived at different intervals, with the most frustrating example being the mushroom truffle rice and baby chicken, which were ordered together yet arrived around 30 minutes apart. The music was excessively loud, to the point where you had to raise your voice just to have a conversation across the table. The knock-on effect is that everyone else does the same, creating an increasingly noisy and unpleasant dining environment. This situation would be very easy to remedy. A premium restaurant should not be trying to squeeze so many tables into the dining area, and when customers raise concerns, staff should focus on resolving the issue rather than offering excuses. To make matters worse, the food was mediocre for the price point. Drinks also took an unreasonably long time to arrive and, once again, were not served together despite being ordered at the same time. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.
