  Had a lovely lunch at ROKA Mayfair! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, stylish but relaxed, and it was buzzing with people even on a weekday lunchtime. We went for the Premium Tasting Menu, which was a great way to try a bit of everything. The black cod with yuzu miso was definitely a highlight, beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Also really enjoyed the lamb cutlets, sashimi selection and the mushroom rice with truffle. The dessert platter was a lovely way to finish! The cocktails were excellent too, and the whole team was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout. We felt really well looked after from start to finish. Great food, lovely atmosphere and genuinely warm hospitality. Would happily come back!

  Good vibes, bell’ambiente, ottimo cibo ma servizio non adeguato al prezzo e lento. I piatti arrivano in ordine casuale. Entrati alle 21, riceviamo l’ultimo piatto alle 2230. Quel salmone me lo sono sudato….

  The foods is okay, but the service is worse. I made a reservation for 5 people and place an order 20 mins before my friends arrived, but they made us wait for an extra 20 mins, total waiting for the platter to arrived is 40 mins. It is quite disappointing because we have another appointment to catch up and ended up late for the meeting. The most annoying things is the fruit platter, I place an order before we start the platter, but they made us wait 40 mins after we finished the dessert before the fruit platter is served. When I followed up the floor manager, instead of apologizes, he instead find an excuse saying that I ordered from different waiter and he covered different area. How do you expect me to know your area of works? Am I received your schedule? Why did you take order from us then? don’t you communicate among you as a floor staff? Won’t come to this place anymore

  The restaurant is a visually impressive dining environment which is probably their strongest asset, but truthfully does not live up to the hype that everyone gives it. The dining experience begins to falter at the ordering stage. The menu is unnecessarily overwhelming its just a cluttered mix of Japanese terminology and English descriptions. I felt like I was doing a quiz on Duolingo. The layout just complicates the selection process and makes navigating what you want to order feel like a chore. when it comes to the food (with all the considerable hype) it was surprisingly average. The spinach starter and prawns were very well done, but I cant say the same for the beef fillet and the sushi rolls ordered which were ridiculously priced for the way they tasted. The sushi came out extremely dry and taste like it had been made 3 days ago put in the fridge and then served. I ve had better and cheaper from the Tesco meal deals. Despite spending £120, the portion sizes were inadequate, leaving us entirely unsatisfied and still hungry by the end of the meal. Overall, beautiful setting, but if you are visiting strictly for exceptional Japanese cuisine, you will find the reality does not match the anticipation. It is a triumph of style over culinary substance.

  The food was good, but unfortunately, my family and I had a very unpleasant experience because of the way we were treated by a member of staff. I am visiting from South Korea and came here with my family hoping to spend the evening on the terrace. When we first asked for a table, we were told that they were fully booked and that nothing would be available until around 10pm. As we were about to leave, however, the staff member said they would check again and then immediately found us a table on the terrace. I found this a little strange at the time, but did not think too much of it. The more upsetting experience happened when we were paying. There was a temporary issue with my mother’s card, so I immediately indicated that I would use my own card instead. The staff member handed me the card machine, but in doing so appeared to deliberately let it drop onto the table, almost as if tossing it towards me, and then walked away to another table without saying anything or giving any explanation. I have lived in the UK for around a year and have visited at many restaurants, but I have never experienced a staff simply walking away in the middle of a payment like this. My entire family found the behaviour extremely rude and disrespectful. After this happened, it also made us reconsider the earlier situation, when we were initially told there were no tables available until 10pm, only for a table to suddenly become available as soon as we were about to leave. I cannot know the staff member’s intentions for certain, but taken together, the way we were treated left my family and me feeling that we had been treated differently because of our race. While we enjoyed the food, the experience left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected, and I would not return. I am leaving this review because I sincerely hope that other Asian customers do not have a similar experience.
