  Honestly, I highly recommend NOT coming for afternoon tea here if you are a vegetarian. It seems very clear to me that this establishment lumps “vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free” all into the same category - meaning that my sandwich fillers and desserts were all dairy and egg free and arguably much less pleasant as a result. To be specific, for sandwiches there were four provided fillings (cucumber, which was provided to all parties - followed by aubergine, potato salad and mushroom, for restrictive plant-based diets.) The mushroom and aubergine both had very slimy cold textures, the potato salad filling was grainy, flavourless, and unpleasant. I was given a cheese sandwich upon request, however unfortunately the service at this afternoon tea was exceptionally slow (although the person serving us was very nice when he was available). I ended up receiving the cheese sandwich long after other guests finished eating, which made me somewhat uncomfortable. I’ve never seen cold aubergine or mushroom sandwiches offered at any other establishment and truthfully, I think there’s a reason for that. This afternoon tea was high end and expensive - it’s not unreasonable to suggest that vegetarians shouldn’t have to miss out on diary or egg products just because it’s easier to arrange in terms of catering. It’s also worth noting that although you CAN ask for more sandwiches and tea, the service being as slow as it was made this factor redundant. This restrictive-diet catering approach also seemed to impact available desserts. I was told I couldn’t have “normal” desserts due to their use of gelatine, which is fair enough - but rather than switching out for a vegetarian gelatine I was served desserts which also clearly mitigated the use of dairy, such as cream and white chocolate additions. Other guests tried my alternative food and advised me that unfortunately my desserts tasted worse than theirs, which wouldn’t have been the case if the only substitution that had been made had been using a vegetarian gelatine rather than a meat-based one. Vegetarian gelatine substitutes are widely available. Overall I think this was an average dining experience for meat-eating guests (excluding slow service) but for me as a vegetarian it was very unpleasant. I also wouldn’t really recommend it for vegans or dairy-free folk either because, while the food is indeed inclusive - the problem was that it simply didn’t taste good.

  I had an absolutely wonderful, beautiful experience experience at The Langham today with my Nan to celebrate her 81st birthday. The whole experience could not be faulted. The atmosphere was fantastic, service impeccable and afternoon tea just magnificent. Shahid was our server and he was phenomenal, very professional, kind, attentive and helpful. Very highly recommended!

  I love the afternoon tea and the Langham They had their seasonal strawberry theme afternoon tea They served strawberries with cream first We had our delicious sandwiches Followed by a strawberry homemade ice cream which was Devine. The scones and desserts were heavenly I love that you can change your tea with each course so you get to try different flavors of tea which is my favorite part about it. Highly recommend

  We were made to feel very welcome and all the staff were so pleasant and happy which is so important for creating a good atmosphere. The food was exceptionally good and it was so nice to be offered more of those delicious sandwiches. This was the first time we’ve had the courses served in separate stages rather than all at once on a three tier server and must say that we preferred it that way. The tea choice was very good and plentiful and was served very nicely. In the background, the pianist played beautiful tunes the whole time we were there. We have had afternoon tea at most of the London hotels and recently at Raffles hotel in Singapore - all extremely good but this was the best.
