Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

The pizza lacked that yumminess that it normally has, but the staff were quite fast considering the business of the store. And genuinely, only in London would you need a security guard in Greggs lmao

Probably the only place around Leicester Square where you can eat without needing a second mortgage, which explains the queues that regularly snake out the door. This is actually Greggs' flagship "MegaGreggs" store, so it's bigger than your average branch, but the crowds it pulls in from the surrounding tourist trap still push it to its limits.
Inside it's the usual Greggs lineup, pastries, sandwiches, coffees, nothing you can't find at any other branch across the country. The difference here is the sheer volume of people it's trying to push through against every overpriced alternative nearby. It works, but the whole operation could do with being a bit more efficient given how busy it gets.
Still, when everything else around Leicester Square is charging tourist prices, you genuinely can't beat this for a quick, cheap grab on the go.

Greggs Leicester Square 5th of August 2pm. She yelled st the the security guard on top of her voice the shop was full. Everyone else was pleasant. But I am appalled by the behaviour of this manager. There was no response to yell.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
