About

Bakery
We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth. Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks. Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Bundle on whichever side takes your fancy. We’re talking crispy Southern Fried Potato Wedges, a classic bag of crisps, protein-packed egg pots, fruit pots or creamy yoghurt. Plus, grab a drink to top it all off. From a classic Latte or a Mocha to a Raspberry Lemonade or a crisp Iced Mango & Strawberry Cooler – it’s yours. Pre-order on Click + Collect to skip the queue like a VIP, or get what you want delivered to your door via Just Eat or Uber Eats. Whichever way you have it - there’s definitely one thing better than a Greggs – and that’s a FREE Greggs. The Greggs App has never been tastier. Packed full of seriously stomach-rumbling news, rewards and ways to order – it really is the inner circle for all things yummy. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to bag some free treats - and who doesn’t love a free treat?

I visited Greggs before closing time and a customer had asked if an item could be warmed up, but was told the oven had already been shut down even though they were still open. The customer service was also disappointing. The guy serving wasn’t very helpful, and the girl seemed confused and didn’t understand what we were asking. Made me feels so uncomfortable..

Very disappointing experience at Greggs. The customer service was extremely poor – staff seemed uninterested in helping customers and couldn’t answer basic questions about the food they sell. I also asked about the Too Good To Go bags, and nobody seemed to know how they worked or what was included, which was frustrating. To make matters worse, they start shutting everything down well before the advertised closing time. Several items were already unavailable, and it felt like customers were being rushed out instead of being served.

I was so excited to finally have a Greggs close by, but pastries are stone cold at 9 am. The boy there is alright and tries but the girl never says hello and won't even say a word throughout service. Disappointing..

The customer service here is absolutely appalling - the male manager is so rude, and clearly has no respect for any customer. Gets an order wrong, then tells you it's your fault. Such a shame as was really pleased to have a Greggs nearby. Won't go back now.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
