Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Very disappointing customer service.
I visited this Greggs on 19 August 2026 at around 6:40 a.m. and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience with the manager working the morning shift.
I politely asked whether my baguette could be warmed up. Instead of simply answering my question, she responded, “I don’t know what you’re asking for.” I then showed her the packaging and clarified that I was asking whether the baguette could be heated, but she responded, “What are you talking about?” in a very rude and dismissive tone.
What I found particularly unacceptable was being spoken to this way in front of other customers waiting in the queue. I was polite throughout the interaction and was simply asking a straightforward question. There was no reason for me to be spoken to in such a disrespectful manner.
I understand that early morning shifts can be busy, but being busy is never an excuse for treating customers without basic courtesy and respect. As a manager, she should be setting an example for the rest of the team.
Unfortunately, this experience has left me with a very poor impression of this store. Customer service should make customers feel welcome, not embarrassed or belittled.
I hope Greggs takes this feedback seriously and reviews the situation with the manager involved. A simple, polite response would have made all the difference.
Very disappointing experience.

The worst Greggs by a margin; not the first time that staff cheated out the customer by not honoring the meal deal - asked for a meal deal (breakfast meal deal) and got told that only baguette + drink was available.
Honestly - don't try to cheat out the customers.

Today I visited the Greggs store at Waterloo. I thought I could quickly grab an egg mayo sandwich, but when I arrived, there was a “Do Not Open” sign covering the sandwich display.
The store was quiet, with only one young man and one lady working. The lady was on her phone while I asked for an egg mayo sandwich. Instead of listening to my request, they kept trying to give me a different sandwich.
I even pointed out that the egg mayo sandwich was there, but they still didn’t listen. The lady remained on her phone, and I ended up wasting around five minutes before leaving. I found the customer service very disappointing, especially since the store wasn’t busy. I hope you can remind your staff to pay attention to customers and provide better service.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
