Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. The tables were spotless, the counters were organised, and the floors looked freshly cleaned even though the store was busy during lunchtime. It immediately created a welcoming atmosphere and made the whole visit more enjoyable, friendly staff and professional. I was greeted with a smile, served quickly, and treated politely throughout my order. It was nice seeing the team working efficiently while still keeping everything neat and organised around them. Customer service like that always makes a difference. The roll itself was fresh, hot, and tasty. I ordered a sausage roll, a cheese pizza slice, and a latte, and everything tasted great. The pastry was crisp, the coffee was smooth, and the portions were good value for money. Overall, this Greggs was one of the cleanest and nicest branches I have visited recently. I would definitely return again and happily recommend it to anyone looking for quick food in a comfortable environment. Everything about the visit felt managed from the seating area to the service at the counter. It is refreshing to find a place that consistently delivers good food, cleanliness, and polite service.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
