Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.
I was served by an amazing member of staff, Gary, on Friday when I came in to grab a quick bite. He has an excellent knowledge of the items in store, is extremely professional, and has a fantastic manner with customers.
Gary makes you feel genuinely welcome. He is always willing to help, and his friendly smile makes a real difference to the customer experience. He is a wonderful example of outstanding customer service and I truly believe he deserves to be recognised and rewarded for his hard work and positive personality.
Well done, Greggs, for having such a fantastic asset to your team. I will definitely be telling my friends about this store and encouraging them to visit and experience the excellent customer service I received from Gary.
Thank you, Gary, for making what could have been just a quick visit such a pleasant experience. You are a credit to the team!

Food was barely warm and I was refused when asked to warm up. No other customers so no wait time.

What can you say about Greggs....it's not fine dining but in a world where you need to hold a mortgage payment to get your lunch it rules...cheap and cheerful....fills a hole without breaking the bank.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
