Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

It doesn't matter what time you go in there, junkies just walk in and take what they want with a smile on their face. I understand theft is always going to happen here and there but the problem I have is that the staff NEVER challenge anyone! They just watch from behind the counter. You might not want to physically challenge someone but you could at least shout at them to get out. Tired of seeing people just load up with baguette sandwiches and drinks and walk off . Last time I was there a woman took about 7 packs of 4 sausage rolls and 5 bottles of coke, staff were looking straight at her and said nothing yet everyone else in the queue pays. All food and drink should be kept behind the counter and staff shouldn't hand it over until payment has been received...simple as that. Part of your role in retail is loss prevention and no one is this store is preventing anything.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
