  I went to the branch for a charity collection. A young Chinese-looking man was pleasant and informed the manager. The manager then appeared and was immediately aggressive. He told me I had to take everything or nothing. The bakery items were left completely exposed with no covering and looked unhygienic. Tomatoes had visible white mould and other items were soft or clearly off. I said I could only take what was safe and manageable, but he refused and repeated that it was all or nothing. He accusingly said to me charity collectors sell donated food. I explained I had only started volunteering the day before. When I again said I could not carry everything, he told me I could take nothing so I left. I had been in the shop around 30 minutes. I left with no items, having wasted time and petrol, and an interaction that caused stress and unnecessary conflict. As I left, I noticed a man lingering at the entrance who had also been there when I arrived. The situation raised concerns for me about how the process was being handled on that occasion. It's been widely reported that it's actually Tesco staff selling produce meant for charities. If staff put off genuine charity volunteers with aggressive behaviour. They can claim it's been given to us or that it's waste. They sell it themselves it would certainly explain why a guy hang around the entrance for over 30 minutes, he was clearly waiting for something. Tesco staff in the local area are extremely aggressive and have a very selective understaning of English.

  If your staff are completely disinterested in helping customers and rather scroll On tik tok why do you even bother employing them. Also, why do you have an Evri drop off point when your staff don't know how or can't be bothered to help with you a drop off!

  This is now March 2026 and I as m updating my review because I am absolutely fed up with produce on this store that goes off on the same day you are in there or if you are lucky the very next day! And mind you this is stuff like milk! In a addition when they mark down items they cover or peel off the use by date, which is illegal and wrong! I have seen this several times! One of the older Asian male employees that works there racially profiles you as if you’re going to steal! I have never stolen a day in my life as I’ve had an extremely well paid job my whole life! It’s insulting and Tescos should absolutely be ashamed of this store! Whilst there is a new security guard that is there now sometimes (olive complexion, beard often wears a hat), he is extremely creepy and stares at women uncomfortably. When will Tesco do something about terrible stores like this. Older review over 4years ago: They never have decent stock levels..items have not been refilled for ages which I would regularly buy, the use by date is always within 1 or 2 days(especially with bread), poor choice of veg.. who doesn’t sell cabbage. The female short security guard, with bobbed hair racially profiles anyone that is black.. because apparently black people thieves. No other security guard, just her! The man on the counter this evening at around 7.30 has no customer service skills. This store is getting from bad to worse! It would be better off as a Sainsbury’s Local! I shouldn’t have to go to Borehamwood to be treated equally and get what I need. This never happens to me in Sainsbury’s/ Waitrose or Marks & Spencer. I would have given 0 stars, but it’s not an option!
