  An average supermarket. Some popular items sell out far too quickly, and Northfields High Street definitely needs an M&S food and a Waitrose. Instead, our high street seems to be full of nail salons! I really don’t understand why people in Northfields prefer to shop online rather than come together as a community and campaign to bring these much needed supermarkets to our area. It would make such a difference to local residents and improve our high street.

  It’s probably a year since this store reopened after refurbishment and this is a first-rate local store with a broad range of products and produce. Very handy and open from early morning to late evening and it’s always clean and bright and well stocked. Really good customer service from friendly and helpful staff who are always professional, courteous and forever willing to help customers whatever the query. Special mention to Russell and Sania who are always cheerful and helpful and nothing is ever too much effort. Really pleasant local store to shop in.

  Below reasonable expectations on several counts. Staff are generally unfriendly and wouldn't bother answering "hello". We have to look for staff inside the aisles to find someone at the checkout whenever we want to pay cash, no one is monitoring the tills. Especially for elderly and less able customers this is an extra burden, largely unwelcome especially as monitoring customers wanting to pay is part of the basic operations of any store. Finally the level of english of some staff has been on some occasions less than sufficient (below basic professional standard), preventing simple questions on where to find articles from being answered. Food wise the proportion of junk food and processed food compared with vegetables, fresh meat, organic options is unjustifiable today. Surfing on the wave of tempting decadent food is not a way any grocery store should even think of pursuing today due to the very well known health issues related to bad eating habits. This also completely ignores the target population of the neighbourhood, making it both a bad ethical and economical choice. Despite having been refurbished recently the overall hygiene of the store is starting to degrade already. On the plus side this store is at a convenient location, and has lots of potential to be a very suited and profitable business in the local landscape, if only it were managed properly and more strategically. In this area a store can make more margin selling fresh and/or organic products to customers who care about what they eat than junk food to the ones who don't. It is not a price issue. For me it is still worth walking an extra 15mn to do groceries at Waitrose.

  Jansan at Tesco Northfield Avenue is honestly amazing always smiling and so friendly he gives the best customer service and makes every visit feel nice and welcoming he is always helpful and has such a positive attitude a real credit to the team!!!
