- JKjaures kolley5 days ago1.0I visited the Crayford Greggs store and was given a sausage, bean and cheese melt that was absolutely freezing cold. I immediately asked if I could swap it for a hot steak bake, as the item I had been given was not suitable to eat at that temperature. Instead of being dealt with politely, we were told that they couldn’t swap it. We explained that the food was freezing cold and that we hadn’t been informed beforehand that it might be served cold. The response was met with attitude and shouting rather than any attempt to resolve the issue. Mandy then continued shouting while we tried to explain the situation, and another member of staff came over with the same attitude and also started shouting. After a lot of unnecessary back and forth, they eventually agreed to swap the item. The whole experience was completely unacceptable. We were not asking for anything unreasonable, just a hot replacement for food that was served freezing cold. The way we were spoken to was unprofessional, rude and completely unnecessary. Customer service should not involve staff shouting at customers who are simply trying to resolve a genuine issue. I hope management addresses the behaviour of the staff involved, particularly Mandy, because this experience has left a very poor impression of the Crayford store.

But when I was about to tell her it was already done. Saving me having to wait. As she was up against it as there was a long queue behind me.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
