Just had a really bad experience here self scanning for first time. My fault I did not look for someone on the till, but literally had a man stand over me watch every scan. Will not be self scanning again or using this store. Perhaps it's time to swap allegiance to Aldi. And if you have someone doing this it's not saving time put him on the till instead.
I had no qualms in taking a photograph you can still see him watching even though I had paid and he moved away.

It's Tesco. Nothing special when it comes to produce. But hey, your never more than 15 minutes walk from a Tesco lol.
They don't always pay attention the the lack of baskets by the door... I usually carry some over and stack them myself.
One thing that stands out is the security officer by the front door. He's a proper gentleman, very professional and friendly. First person you meet as you go in, the perfect ambassador for this store.

I have been shopping here since it first opened 20 to 30 years ago. I have in the past been very happy with the store and the majority of the staff are wonderful.
I spend about £6K pa there, so likely £200K since it opened.
In the last few months Head Office/ management have removed the wonderful check out staff and basically demonstrated to their customers that they have no regard for them whatsoever.
You now have to self scan all your shopping.
This is fine if you have a dozen items, but when your spend is £200+ this is quite frankly ludicrous.
You can’t put your filled bags into your trolley without the system failing.
You can’t lean on the packing area without the system failing.
I had to call for assistance around a dozen times and by the end of the worst shopping experience in my life (and no I’m not exaggerating) I had never been so upset and angry.
If you want a whoosh shop the staff are there to pick up a bottle of Pims and drop it at your front door.
If you want to spend anything more than £20 there I suggest you consider taking your business to somewhere where they value their customers, which is sadly no longer the case.
I can’t even see the business sense in treating their high value shops and profits with such disdain.
Why effectively turn away the customers who want to spend £6000pa there every year, in favour of people picking up a few items?
It’s the lovely staff I feel most sorry for being displaced into other roles.
I did try the self scan once, but was detained at the end and had to have every single item of the £250 shop rescanned, because that’s apparently random.
Anyway, I still feel upset, angry and traumatised 24 hours later, so please pass this on to anyone considering shopping there.
PS I regret to say I lost my rag with the manager who I asked to see, although by then I was absolutely livid and more concerned about my food defrosting as I had been in the shop for 90 minutes and getting a parking ticket as well due to Head Office/management not giving a damn.

I did a huge shop, used self scan for convenience, got to the check out and had to have a trolley check …85 items, yes 85 items for rescan. I don’t mind a few items being rescanned but the time taken to have 85 items scanned and then having to repack bags is incredibly poor customer service.
