  Been using this store for years spending thousands in that period. Tonight was the first time I've experienced such bad service. Had a full trolley probably 180 plus. Joined a till queue only to be told by the operator he was closing when it was our turn. There was no one behind us it would have taken 5 minutes. He pointed to the self scan checkout. We are old and never use these but after an hour of shopping had no choice. 3 items went through before it chimed call for assistance. A teenage girl arrived who ignored us scanned her card to get it working and walked off. Half a dozen items later same thing happened. She came back done the same again. It worked for a few more items before the call for assistance chimed again. Waved to her but she looked away and totally ignored us. So what do we do we we now stuck. Patience levels by then had been exhausted and were replaced by irritation and after making eye contact with my Wife knowing her thoughts we tipped the entire contents of our bags back on the till and exited the store ,. This left a rather irate que of fellow shoppers behind us and a shocked looking teenage customer care assistant now having to deal with this mess. I wonder if she understood the meaning of her job description. Anyhow to finish wilI we use the store again probably but not for a long while.

  Shopped here ever since it was a Great Mills as has been good but lately in the last year or so it has gone sharply down hill. The duty manager today showing a "couldn't care less" attitude to the customer who does not have a token for the newly tokenised trollies and leaving basket only shopping. Senior managers should take note that customers will go elsewhere. In contrast the lidl staff will give a token in the same situation and offer friendly service over in the Orpington branch it is worth the extra drive. Also to note the one and only checkout assistant tonight continuously being chatted up by the security guard so customers had to sit waiting for her to fix the self checkout tills which continuously fail to scan properly.

  I echo lots of recent reviews with new self checking tills it saves money at the expense of my time. I feel sorry for the great staff we have known for years running around 4 new tills helping people with the errors. I am not going to make any larger shipping at Tesco again
