- ARAndy Roberts4 days ago4.0You can't do a pub crawl down Dale Street without dropping into the Excelsior for a pint. They must have had a refurb recently as the interior looks nice and fresh with new tables and chairs since I was last here. Seats were nice and comfy and there was some decent music playing in the background. They seem to to have a good selection of cask beers and a few special offers. It was service with a smile from the staff and overall a nice place to go for a few pints.

- GSGareth SouthSep 27, 20265.0My favourite day time chill out pub during the afternoon, lunch time or if I want a nice quiet pint in the city centre. Got a proper British pub vibe about the place. Great drinks selection with a top notch pint of Guinness served here, all drinks are really reasonably priced for a city centre establishment. Music played is 80’s alternative and indie - my favourites - and the staff are really welcoming with a land lady always put a smile on my face even after a stressful day! Spotlessly clean throughout, you can tell that the staff really look after the place and the customers appreciate and respect this. They do regular quiz nights, poetry events and there are screens showing sports too, so something for everyone. Great job to all at The Excelsior.

Proper classic pub vibes; relaxed, no fuss, and just a good place to sit down and enjoy a drink. Service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere felt welcoming especially from Elis the bar tender. What struck me most about Elis and his professionalism was during our visit a very distressed young woman came in shouting and was visibly upset…Elis dealt with her calmly and ensured that she didn’t impact on the relaxed atmosphere of us and other guests. He was able to sort a taxi for her to get home safely due to her unstable nature. Well done Elis and thank you for allowing us to have a lovely, relaxed drink at the Excelsior. 😁🍻
