Had a fantastic lunch here, very welcome after a long walk along the canal from Burton Waters! The food was perfect and the friendly service from lovely Hannah and her colleague was exceptional. We will be back!

Twelve of us had booked a table for a reunion. We only had main courses, which were good (most of us had pizzas or pasta) and served fairly promptly. After that the service was abysmal since we were completely ignored even though the restaurant wasn't busy with only a couple of other tables occupied inside (there may have been others outside). Most of us would have ordered a second drink if we'd been asked, we were left with dirty dishes which were only cleared after we eventually asked and we weren't asked if we wanted desserts. We eventually had to ask for the dessert menu but by then we were so annoyed we decided not to have any. We even had to find a server to say we wanted to pay the bill. If the service had been less lazy we would have spent a lot more.

For an ‘Italian’ restaurant the pizzas are surprisingly poor. The base was soggy, spongy and no better than a cheap supermarket one! This was my first (and last) experience of Zizzi.

I used to go to Zizzi’s quite regularly but after last night I honestly don’t think I’ll ever set foot in there again. What an absolute shambles from start to finish. The waiter was cold, disinterested and couldn’t have been ruder if he tried. We waited ages for our starters. The hot honey pork belly arrived with a “hot” sticker on the plate but everything was stone cold and the portion was embarrassingly small for the money. Then we had no cutlery. I tried waving our waiter down after he’d made eye contact and he blanked us completely. Had to go and pinch some off another table like scavengers while the staff at the bar gave us filthy looks. Charming. Mains were just dumped on the table by someone from the kitchen who didn’t say a word and walked off. Still cold, still tiny. But the real highlight? Another server came along and basically flung my Calabrese dip onto the table so hard it tipped straight out, went through the gaps and covered my white shoes, my jeans and my bag. Not a single word of apology. Just walked off and left me sitting there covered in dip. Not one person checked on us the entire time. No greeting, no service, nothing. We were so disgusted we took what was left of our food and left. Absolutely appalling behaviour. I shan’t be returning and I’ll be telling everyone I know to avoid the place.

Food was very nice, I would recommend. The service was a bit slow, I think they forgot about us as we were sat down for nearly half an hour before we eventually flagged someone down to take our order. Think must’ve just been a bad day as have not had this issue before.
