- JDJ DaraOct 5, 20261.0Today 5th Oct 2026 16:22 I visited the Ashby branch recently and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I ordered potato wedges and a drink. The wedges were extremely hard and rubbery, to the point that I couldn’t eat them and had to throw them in the bin. That really wasn’t acceptable. Unfortunately, the customer service was also disappointing on this occasion. The lady serving at the till was very unfriendly and showed very little courtesy or hospitality. There was no friendly greeting, thank you, or welcoming attitude. What made it more disappointing is that I normally visit this place and have always found the younger staff and other members of the team to be friendly, welcoming and polite. So I was surprised by the attitude I experienced this time. Everyone can have a bad day, but when working in hospitality and dealing with customers, basic politeness and good customer service are important. I hope the management can look into both the quality of the food and the customer service, because normally I have had much better experiences here.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
