Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Today we visited Greggs and had a very disappointing experience. After placing our order, the staff member was about to hand over our food, and we politely asked him to add a carry bag. He replied that it is paid, and we clearly said we know and are happy to pay.
However, instead of helping us at that moment, he ignored us and started serving other customers. We were left standing there waiting. After serving two other people, he finally showed us the scanner to pay. We paid immediately, but then another staff member (a British lady) came from inside, and he told her that we didn’t know the bag was paid. They both started laughing.
This made us feel very uncomfortable and disrespected, as we had clearly said we were aware it was paid. Despite paying, we were still waiting for the bag until we had to ask again. Only then he said he forgot and handed it to us.
We thanked him and left, but the whole situation felt humiliating. As residents here, we expect to be treated with basic respect and not made to feel embarrassed in front of others. This kind of behaviour is not acceptable and needs to be addressed.

Good point is that the food is always warm and hasn't been stood there for hours. Can be busy though.

It's a coin flip on whether you're gonna get treated kindly by staff.
Black girl behind the till literally tutted and rolled her eyes because SHE forgot to grab my pasty. Its unfortunate this is the quickest lunch on my commute.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
