We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

He had a very lovely attitude and served us really well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We got Cheese & Onion Pasties, Cheese & Tomato Pizzas and the Red Pepper, Feta & Spinach bake. (Veggie Pizzas later on). 🤤 We didn’t know they still did the Veggie Pizzas as the branch I go to stopped doing them. When they came out fresh out of the oven I was like ahhh no we didn’t get any Veggie Pizzas, and when we explained to Porvah that we’d like some Veggie Pizzas too, he acknowledged our order again very professionally and took the payment swiftly. The savoury bakery items were very fresh and aromatic. I haven’t seen fresh food at a Greggs branch for a long time. Definitely visiting this branch again.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
