went to this SPAR yesterday to collect two parcels. The older woman with short silver hair, who claimed to be the manager, immediately started shouting at me and aggressively demanded my ID.
I was not refusing to provide ID at all. I simply asked why she was shouting and said I could calmly show both my ID and the email with the tracking numbers. Instead of speaking politely, she continued being extremely rude and confrontational.
After I showed my ID, she then refused to help me collect the parcels. Another staff member, a middle-aged Middle Eastern man, told me to leave the store and said they would no longer help because I had “raised my voice,” which is completely unfair because I was only responding to being shouted at first.
I felt threatened enough that I called the police. After this, the staff finally started searching for the parcels, but throughout the process they were visibly angry, impatient, loudly searching through boxes, and treating me with hostility. They only found one parcel. I calmly asked whether they wanted to check my email with the tracking numbers, but the man shouted at me again, saying “there isn’t another one, this is your ID,” in a very rude and aggressive tone.
Even other customers waiting nearby commented that it looked like the woman simply did not want to give me my parcels. Her attitude was intimidating, angry, and completely rude.
I have since reported the entire incident to my local police station. The way she shouted at and confronted me made me feel quite scared and panicked. The experience was so intimidating that I do not feel safe going back to this store again.
Old white haired man/woman was unnecessarily rude and abrupt when I said I didn’t have ID, “what is with people not having their id” I am definitely of age, miserable jobs worth
Kyle was super helpful guiding me to the correct aisle
No problem with the shop or the other staff but mad how the lady with short blonde hair and glasses is so rude I’ve felt compelled to write this. But I hope she sees it. Genuinely horrible and uncalled for responses for merely asking a question about posting a parcel.
I’ve had consistently poor experiences at this Spar when collecting parcels, specifically due to one member of staff (an older lady with white hair) who is incredibly rude every single time I visit.
On my most recent visit, I was speaking with another colleague who was polite, but she interrupted and insisted on handling my parcel. From the start, her attitude was abrupt and unfriendly. When I accidentally referred to my parcel as an “order,” she made a remark about it “not being a takeaway,” which was completely unnecessary.
She then demanded my ID by simply saying “ID” with no basic courtesy. When she couldn’t find my parcel, I tried to help by mentioning the retailer it was from, but she snapped at me again, saying I should have told her that earlier.
I initially gave her the benefit of the doubt on previous visits, assuming she might have just been having a bad day. However, this has now happened every single time I’ve interacted with her, and it’s clearly a pattern of behaviour rather than a one-off.
