First of all I telephoned to book a table and left my name and number for a call back, this didn’t happen so my husband booked online for 14.00 We arrived at 13.40 to sit in the gardens and gave a couple of drinks. The lady behind the bar did say it might be a little delayed BUT 50 MINUTES was too much, when we received our meals there was no horseradish sauce for the beef!! The mash was like smash ready made, and you either need to change you meat supplier or your cutlery as I could cut through the beef My husband said he couldn’t taste the difference between the pork and the chicken as it was so tough. I don’t normally write reviews but I’m afraid this ruined our Sunday afternoon and was very poor. Sorry to give this review but it’s a honest one, the lady behind the bar was excellent.

Having previously boycotting this pub for photos food, long waits and Guinness tasting like TCP we heard it had new ownership so decided to re visit. So pleased we did! We had the Sunday lunch and it was delicious, piping hot and plenty full. Oh and hubby said the Guinness was healed and went down a treat

Went for Sunday lunch , following recent positive reviews we thought we’d give it a try again - have to say my wife had the Roast beef and it was excellent - big portion, the beef was cooked superbly , and I had a double burger , both meals were very good , staff were very good too , thank goodness it’s been some time that the pub is getting back on its feet , if the food stays as good as this then I’ve no doubt it will , we will definately be visiting again soon - excellent today! Many thanks ….Gary

I had an excellent time at this pub—it struck the perfect balance between lively atmosphere and relaxed comfort. From the moment we walked in, there was a real buzz about the place, helped along by friendly, attentive staff who made us feel welcome without hovering. The drinks selection was genuinely impressive. The range of draught ales catered to all tastes, from crisp, refreshing options to richer, more full-bodied brews, all kept in great condition. For wine lovers, the list was extensive and thoughtfully curated, offering plenty of choice by the glass or bottle. The cocktail menu was just as strong—creative, well-balanced, and clearly crafted with care rather than being an afterthought. What really made the evening stand out, though, was the live music. The performance added so much energy to the space without overwhelming it, striking that perfect level where you can still chat comfortably while enjoying the atmosphere. The musicians were clearly talented, and the setlist kept the crowd engaged throughout. All in all, it was a fantastic night—great drinks, excellent service, and live music that elevated the entire experience. I’d definitely come back for another evening like this.
