Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Member of staff was super rude to my mum who was really polite, she was a large lady with faded greasy coloured hair. She had an awful attitude and it was possibly the worst customer service we have ever had, and to finish this awful experience off the food was cold and undercooked.

I visited this Greggs today with a friend and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing because of how we were treated by the lady taking our order.
My friend was trying a matcha drink for the first time, so I politely asked if she could recommend a flavour. Instead of helping, the lady responded with “Right, so what do you want then?” in a very dismissive and impatient tone. It immediately felt rude and unwelcoming, especially since we were just asking a simple question.
I then ordered a cheese and onion toastie and was asked to wait for it, which was completely fine. However, while we were waiting, we noticed the lady being noticeably friendlier and more polite with other customers, particularly white customers, while continuing to be cold and dismissive towards us. This made the whole interaction feel uncomfortable and honestly gave the impression that we were being treated differently because of our background.
When the toastie was ready, it was simply announced and left on the counter rather than being handed over, which again felt dismissive compared to how other customers were treated.
Customer service only requires basic politeness and respect, and unfortunately this interaction ruined what should have been a normal visit. Experiences like this can make customers feel unwelcome, and I hope the management looks into it because no one should feel that way when simply ordering food

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
