My late mother often said "if you buy cheap you get cheap" Never so true to this establishment. We were stopping at an Airbnb in Freckleton and thought we'd have Sunday lunch in the village. It all started so well, on the wall we saw an offer " two Sunday lunches plus a bottle of wine £29" . I checked at the bar it was true and yes that was the deal, wow great value. We had a rosē wine which wasn't great but what do you expect we thought. We also ordered a side portion of cauliflower cheese (where I think our problems started). 15 minutes came and went, no food and the place was relatively quiet, after 30 minutes I did go to the bar to ask the whereabouts of our lunch ( remember this was a Sunday lunch, most places do a carvery so not the most difficult meal to prepare and serve). I got the reply " oh we having a few delays" with no hint of an apology. At 45 minutes my patience snapped and complained and they did apologise and said it was being plated up. Finally came but no cauliflower cheese, I think it proved too much for them. They graciously offered a refund as we had paid £3.80 for the privilege and a free dessert but by then all we wanted to do was eat up and leave and politely declined. The meal was bang average but really salty gravy which overwhelmed the food, veg was probably frozen but meat was not bad if you scraped off the gravy. There was a local couple close to where we sat and they agreed that the delay was unacceptable . They said that The Plough across the road was the pub that was the food pub and this was the drinkers pub which summed it up to perfection. Unfortunately we chose the wrong one. I'll remember next time, mother 🤭😕

What a lovely pub. Dog friendly and very welcoming. We had lunch, cheese and bacon burger and the chicken schnitzel. The burger was very fresh and the schnitzel perfectly crispy. The battered prawn with the dip is a must. A lovely afternoon, we will be back!.
