First visit ,what a fascinating 17th century tithebarn, worth a visit to see the barn ,plenty outdoor seating right next to canal, they were only serving quite a small lunch menu, what we had was good, nothing to complain about at all but possibly could have been better, the price was good as you got money off drinks if you were eating, nice and clean.

On first appearance, this is a beautiful canal-side local pub packed with character and charm. It is easy to see how lovely it would be to sit outside by the water in the summer, or snuggle up inside by the large stove in the winter. The bar and waiting staff were friendly, and the menu looked very appealing with all the classics you would expect. I happily chose the mouth-watering cheddar, gruyère, and onion pie. When our food arrived, it looked very good. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from the first bite. My pie was not just cold, but completely chilled in the middle, and it strangely included a large chunk of potato. I had to send it back to the kitchen. By the time I received a hot replacement, my dinner companion had already finished eating their meal. The staff did nicely offer a free dessert as compensation, but I was already full but after some persuasion brought it home for another family member. To make matters worse, we didn't realise it was open-mic night. At 5:30 pm, two male singers with electric-acoustic guitars and a man playing a harmonica started performing. The harmonica microphone kept buzzing with feedback. The music was so loud we could not hear each other speak. Sadly, this was not the nice, quiet Wednesday night catch-up with a friend that I had hoped for.

We visited for a quick drink, whilst staying nearby. The atmosphere was great, live music by guitarist was enjoyable. Served by Lucy, who was great. We sat outside by the water. I had a lovely pint of Timothy Taylor, in a dimpled handle, the wife having a half of "Berries and Cherries ", both brilliant. Considering the venue is fantastic and so popular, the car park is quite small. We loved it so much, we returned the next day, and we were served by the lovely Emily. Interestingly my wife said it was probably her most favourite pub we have EVER visited . Good Lord, that was a rare thing to say, as she is very hard to please. It really has a phenomenal atmosphere.
