Situated on Bridge Road, just moments from the historic Clitheroe Castle and the bustling market‑town centre, The Brown Cow offers a warm and welcoming retreat in the heart of Lancashire. With its characterful charm and friendly atmosphere, it’s the perfect stop‑off for anyone exploring Clitheroe’s rich heritage, nearby museums, or the beautiful Ribble Valley countryside.
My wife and I ate hear Saturday 13/6/26 the food was excellent, the pub has recently been refurbished but Still retains its character and charm, will definitely be returning.

There’s an old saying “ if it ain’t broken , don’t fix it” and that applies to this place. Food was good all round but service and staff are nothing like they used to be. Scruffy bar staff and waiters running round like headless chickens taking meals to wrong tables. No table service either any more. Just not as good as before takeover.🥴☹️

Called in for lunch with our grandchildren aged 6 & 10. I'm currently on a restricted diet and Fern was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, friendly & very welcoming to us. Our grandson's needs were catered for & theirs & mine menu choice was adapted to suit. Felt very relaxed and the boys absolutely enjoyed their puddings! It's our 1st visit to the area and this pub made me want to return!

Just under £19 for 2 x medium glasses of white wine? Getting silly now.
Decent enough place but let's be serious, we're not in The Ivy in Central London here. Empty apart from some elderly locals and a few tradeys at the bar so hardly made up for the laughable price.
Particular annoyed to later see that there were options for less pricey Sauvignon Blancs but guess what, we were never offered any choice and barman defaulted straight to the most expensive one. Charming.
Finished our Liquid Gold drink in 8 mins flat and decided not to stay for food after a predictable but depressing cash grab.
If you like 1.5 inches of wine for the price of a very decent bottle then fill your boots!
Management need to train staff in drink-serving etiquette and urgently reconsider prices. Comfortably the most we've ever been charged anywhere in the entire country, including London - Does that sound correct?
And pubs wonder why people stay at home now...

Great Sunday lunch. The food was excellent and the service was second to none.
Perfect location with a fabulous garden.
