Just been for a birthday treat. My son and I had the roast beef dinner. We could have soled our shoes with the beef it was that tough. We complained and said we would have the Turkey. By the time this came the rest of our meal was cold so we gave up. My daughter went to the ladies she said they were filthy.

Called in for a early evening meal on the way back home from a day trip out. We've been past this pub many times in the past but never thought to call in. We did yesterday and I'm glad we did. Carpark was across the road from the pub. Plenty on parking spaces. Remember to put your car reg in the system when you go in. Pub was busy but we still got a table. Service was prompt and drinks arrived quickly. We ordered one starter and two mains. Again once ordered food came out quickly. The food was amazing. Standout dish for me was the Black pudding bonbons. We ordered steak on the mains which was cooked to perfection. Overall brilliant, we'll be going back again.

Went there last night (20/07/2026) with my hubby to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. Disappointing is the word that comes to mind. Overall food was grossly overcooked & overpriced. My husband started with the black pudding Bon Bon’s which were tasty once he managed to break into them but looked more like mini cannon balls. We both had fish & chips (sorry but skin on chips don’t belong with battered fish) & it was all overcooked. I ate the fish - I was hungry by now but the chips were far too dark. I don’t know if it was the chef’s night off , it wasn’t very busy being a Monday night but £64 for one starter, 2 fish & chips & 2 pints of lager is overpriced especially considering the quality of the food dished up. Won’t be back & won’t recommend.

Such a disappointing visit today. I wasn't satisfied with my food and the staff did everything right by trying to appease me (offered a replacement). However, what was incredibly disappointing was WHAT I was told.
I ordered a gammon. It clearly states gammon CHOP on the menu; I have eaten a gammon chop previously.
What I received was a pork chop. A chop, yes, but most definitely not gammon. Gammon refers to brining a raw piece of pork; it should look and taste like bacon once cooked.
The staff member got hung up on the fact that it's a chop and the menu clearly states it's a chop......I advised him that a chop is a cut and that gammon is a preparation. At which point in time I was advised "I can assure you that is gammon".
It was not.
