About

BakeryGreggs
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

I was in Greggs at Kingston Park Hull today around 1pm. I picked a meal deal and said to the girl I would like this to be a meal deal, but before I finished she said eat in or out. I hadn't finished what I was saying and she said it again, so I said OUT. I was very put out by the way her manner was. I said I would like a cappuccino, she turned and poured the drink and slammed it down and shouted NEXT. I said I was going to say thank you, and she shouted so the whole shop could hear, "do what you want." I walked back and asked for the manager, and she said "I am the manager." I said I want to complain about you, and she shouted all complaints to customer service. I said I am a bit dyslexic and asked can you write that down and where I complain to. She just wrote her name "Elly" on a bag and when I asked for the complaint details she said "find it." Her behavior was out of order and I felt I was in the wrong in front of all the customers. Unacceptable..

The woman serving (6pm May 5th 2026) was incredibly rude from the moment I ordered. I made a couple of very simple requests about how I wanted my coffee prepared, and she refused outright with a dismissive attitude that felt completely unnecessary. What made it worse was the sheer laziness and lack of professionalism. Instead of even attempting to be helpful, she acted irritated that she had to do her job at all. Her attitude was appalling. Perhaps find her a job in the warehouse? A customer facing role is not for her. The location is also filthy. Perhaps staff could attempt some cleaning.

Chicken tikka sandwich was possibly the worst ever. Tiny amount of chicken, no spread on the bread, filled up with leaves. B & M sell a better one for less money.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
