Here's a polished, balanced review that clearly explains both the disappointing dinner service and the excellent breakfast experience:
I recently stayed for one night with my family at the Premier Inn in Swanley and had dinner and breakfast at The Bull Beefeater.
First of all, I have to say that the food at dinner was genuinely tasty, and I have no complaints whatsoever about the quality of the meals. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed what could have been a great dining experience.
The member of staff who took our order never smiled once and gave the impression that she simply didn't want to be there. At times she even seemed to make faces, which made us feel quite unwelcome.
After our meals arrived, we asked for another bottle of beer and a Coke. Despite there being only our table and one other family in the restaurant, we waited an incredibly long time. We had to ask two more times before the drinks finally arrived. During this time, two members of staff appeared to be chatting together rather than checking on customers or asking whether everything was okay.
To make matters worse, while we were still finishing our meals—and with the restaurant still open for another hour or so—a member of staff came over and said, "Sorry, I have to clean," which very much felt like an indirect way of telling us to leave. It was uncomfortable and completely unnecessary. We were paying customers who were simply finishing our meal during the restaurant's advertised opening hours.
It was a genuinely disappointing experience because the food deserved much better service. Sadly, based on how we were treated that evening, I would not choose to return. I sincerely hope the management addresses the customer service standards, as staff attitudes like this can ruin an otherwise good restaurant experience.
Thankfully, breakfast the following morning completely changed our impression, thanks to a wonderful lady called Leigh (I hope I remembered her name correctly). She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She was warm, friendly, attentive, and fantastic with our children, taking the time to chat with them and making breakfast genuinely enjoyable. Her positivity and professionalism made our morning and reminded us what great hospitality looks like. Leigh is a real credit to the restaurant and absolutely deserves recognition for the outstanding service she provides.
Thank you, Leigh, for saving our overall experience.
