Firstly - I'd seen some of the less positive reviews here so went here feeling a little nervous.
So first some context - I've known of the Three Crutches for years , but never visited. From my understanding it was always more of a pub than a restaurant historically, because of the limitations this creates, anyone going here expecting flawless is not really in the real world.
First criticism I've seen is staff that aren't efficient, if this was genuinely the case, it must have been a really bad day ! Honestly, I can't fault the staff on my visit, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely were much better than I've experienced in some premium restaurants.
Speed of service, a few say service is slow, this definitely wasn't my experience, drinks order was taken promptly, food arrived within the time you would expect, steaks cooked EXACTLY as requested, nothing burnt, nothing dry.
One item was missing from the mixed grill , this was communicated well and was replaced with something else. At a guess this is a consequence of the transformation of the industry where pubs have to become more food orientated to earn a living, food storage space is usually limited, so the odd product not being available shouldn't be an issue, I've seen much worse product availability at Harvester and Mitchell & Butler !
Prices are really reasonable.
In the context of what the Three Crutches is the management and staff do an incredible job.
My only criticism is the Hugo Spritz zero isn't very Hugo Spritzish.
Have to say, we had a lovely evening and a decent meal
