  We had a lovely meal at the Smugglers Retreat - really tasty and good value for money. But the staff were what made it, they were absolutely lovely and so helpful. Particularly Lauren, really looked after us and is fantastic. Excellent customer service and nice atmosphere in the clean comfortable restaurant. Thank you very much… we will be back the next time we visit. :)

  place is closing soon. staff are fantastic but the food is the worst I've ever eaten. Do not go here as its a waste of getting ready to go out

  Dont bother and just go next door to McDonald's. The food here is woeful. The cowboy burger was stone cold, the chips again stone cold but cooked into oblivion. My mate had a mixed grill, the chicken was a dried out husk and the steak was still kicking and screaming on the plate. It got sent back to the kitchen only for the poor beast to be still rare, chewy and tough as old boots. Save your money

  Absolutely awful! Upon arriving, after booking a table online, 3 members of staff saw us waiting to be seated and ignored us until they could be bothered to serve! Had 2 mixed grills and for the money the portions were small & poor value for money. The chicken & gammon basically cut in half and split across 2 plates. Chips were cold, hard from being over cooked. Sausages overcooked & could not taste the meat, only the heavily black charcoal skin! Peppercorn sauce was late coming out, half way through the meal and came out of the little pot in one gloppy lump - so scooped it back into pot. Onion rings were overcooked & hard. Steaks were dry, chewy and tasteless. Staff very rude Will not return
