About

BakeryGreggs
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

I honestly don't understand how this is considered acceptable customer service. I walked into the store to order, and there was one male and one female staff member behind the counter. The female staff member looked straight at me, then completely ignored me. She didn't say hello, didn't ask if I was ready to order, nothing. I was literally the only customer in the shop. A little later, the male staff member came over and took my order. While they were making my food, both of them were chatting the whole time. Personally, I don't think it's very hygienic or professional to be talking so much while preparing someone's food. When my order was ready, they just left it on the counter without saying a word. No "here you go," no "thank you," nothing. They carried on with their conversation, and I had to figure out that the food was mine and pick it up myself. Customers are the reason your business exists, so it's disappointing to be treated like this. I've been to the Gregg's on Week Street, and the staff there are much friendlier and more professional. I hope this branch takes customer service a bit more seriously.

I like the new refurbishment but there aren't that many tables to eat in. Shame. Food is yummy though, fresh and always hot. Staff are friendly and cheerful.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
