So disappointed after our visit last night. We were looking forward to returning back to the Woolpack once we found out it had a new owner. I booked a table and arrived a bit early, we were told by a young lad to pick a table as it was empty inside. We waited over half hour before the waitress came over to take our order not knowing we hadn't been give a menu or even taken a drink order. We ordered the drinks, Jamesons and coke they didn't have so asked what Irish rums did they have, the young lady didn't know so said she would go and ask, came back not telling us what they had as whoever was serving behind the bar poured a drink, gave it to her and told her it was Irish rum and it definitely wasn't so gave up on that drink order in the end. We ordered our food, waited a considerable time again and it was such a let down. The Sea bass was very small and apart from a few grains looked like it was missing the risotto. The flat iron chicken was very flat and overcooked and came with a huge block of butter on top of it, which I'm guessing should of melted over the chicken but as the chicken wasn't even luke warm it just stayed there which I had to take off, this was the same with the lamb rump. The best meal was the Mixed grill which was hot and tasty. As the experience wasn't very joyful we decided to ask for the bill when our plates were cleared and I did express our disappointment to the waitress. The young gentleman who we first saw came over and apologised and offered us a free round of drinks which we declined as the purpose of our comments were just to pass on feedback not to get something free, however he took 2 drinks off the bill and yes before people think it we did tip the waitress

I visited this pub for the first time not long ago, its a charming place with lots of original wooden features i thought was quite lovely. Me and my family had lunch and enjoyed the experience. My mother thought the steak sandwich was cooked to perfection with a blush of pink in the middle. We visited on a weekday so it wasnt at peak visiting time but there were a few other customers and the place was peaceful. It looks like a dog friendly place with dog food and treats behind the counter so I would wager its good to dog owners. I would like to visit again to try their dinner menu as I thought the lunch was extremely good.

My friend took me there for Sunday lunch for my birthday. She had made a booking last week for two but when we arrived they had no booking on their system. However we had a table as it was 2pm and the pub wasn’t busy. There were two waitresses and a man behind the bar. The waitress took our drink order and left us the menus. We waited and waited for her to come back to take out lunch order. In the end I called out to her and said can we please order our food. She came and took our order but then after at least half an hour no food arrived and the waitress was at the other end of the bar talking to two men for at least 10 minutes. I went up and said do you think we can have our food. She soon moved but then came back to us with the dessert menu for us to choose. We said we haven’t even had our main course yet??? She apologised and shot off and eventually our lunch arrived. At £20.50 a head I think it is a rip off. My friends piece of chicken was minute to say the least. Overall it took 2.5 hours to have one drink and lunch. I lived in Iwade for many years and thought we would give it another chance. I will not be going back for sure as it was so disappointing especially as it was a birthday meal. The staff need to speed up and maybe smile but overall it was extremely poor.

We came to this pub on Saturday 25th July at 7pm after a long journey from Hampshire. We waited by the restaurant area for someone to acknowledge we had arrived and to show us to our table. We waited for about 5 minutes and when no one showed up we went to the bar where there was one person serving. We got shown to our table and were told that there was a big party(7 people in all- not what I’d call a big party) in and there would be approximately half hour wait for food. We were then told there was no table service and we had to order at the bar. We placed our order. Our starters eventually came out at 7:50, bearing in mind one was a prawn cocktail, the other was whitebait which neither take long to do. We then waited a further 40minutes before we received our main course. I find this a totally unacceptable time to wait. Not one member of staff asked if our meal was okay once we did eventually get our meal after I’d asked how much longer it was going to be! The food in itself was lovely but if we had known it was going to be nearly two hours from start to finish we would not have stayed, half an hour is acceptable but our wait was not.

Wanted to try following change of owner and 'refurbishment'. 1. Interior looked unchanged apart from the absence of the fish tank. (Grandsons very disappointed). 2. Group booking pre-ordered as requested but still waited over 1 hour before starters were served. Another 20+ minutes for starters (only 4) to be cleared and further 20 odd miutes for all main courses to be served. The first plates growing cold before the final plates appeared. 3. My roast beef so overcooked as to be inedible. A coffee + mini desert arrived without the coffee. 4.No attempt at apology from any member of staff. 5. At least 2 other tables were complaining about poor service. 6. No table service, even to pay the bill. I'm disabled; had to ask a relative to pay the bill for me. The time for teething troubles is long gone. The management clearly have no idea how to run a restaurant.
