About

BakeryGreggs
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

I usually don’t leave reviews, but after what happened at the Greggs branch at Broadwater Crescent, Stevenage, I genuinely felt uncomfortable enough to write one. My husband had already been spoken to very rudely by the manager/staff member named Raama (if that is the correct spelling) over the use of Greggs partner vouchers from Monzo and Octopus Energy. These are rewards we use regularly at other Greggs branches without any issues at all. After being told only one voucher could be used “per customer,” my husband simply redeemed one item and left to avoid further confrontation. I then entered the store separately to redeem the Octopus hot drink reward myself. Despite being a completely separate customer transaction, I was unexpectedly charged an additional 70p for a caramel latte — something we have never once been charged for at any other Greggs location using the exact same reward. What stood out most, however, was not the money, but the atmosphere and attitude. The entire interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and awkward, as though customers using valid rewards were somehow inconveniencing the staff. As a customer, you expect consistency from a large national chain like Greggs. Instead, this branch gave the impression that rules were simply being made up on the spot depending on who was serving you. Very disappointing experience and far below the level of customer service I would normally associate with Greggs.

Had a very disappointing experience at Greggs today. The lady behind the counter was rude, sarcastic, and lacked basic customer service skills. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect, and unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Based on today’s experience, I won’t be returning.

WORST Greggs I've been to! It's such a shame to be honest as they weren't this bad a few years ago. Pasties were awful, cold and must've been expired as when I ate it I got really really sick suffering from painful stomach aches. Being pregnant this was very concerning as I didn't know how it would affect my baby and also not being able to eat anything for a good week. Avoid this greggs!

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
