  What a disappointing visit. I took the Tesco self scan device for a hopefully stress free visit but when I got to the tills the “scan” section was closed, the trolly self serve and scan section was closed. I queued at one of the two open tills to be told by the man on the till that he cannot serve me. The only section open to check out was the basket self serve and scan section. Two staff were present trying to look after all the customers which meant I had to wait until they could get to me. They are obviously short staffed. The excuse that some people are off sick isn’t acceptable- ensure you have backup. The money we spend with your supermarket is huge customers should be treated better. Also beware of reduced items because it might seem like value but it isn’t always in or portion to what’s left in the pack. See the photo, broken open box no note on the box to say how many cans were in the box !! I spent over £150 tonight basically serving myself and then not being able to use the “scan quicker” checkout- stress stress stress. Sort yourself out Tesco.

  I purchased a Meal Deal and tapped my Clubcard at the checkout, but I was charged the full price instead of the Meal Deal price. As it was a working day, I was unable to return to the store the same day. I went back the following day to request a refund at Customer Services. Unfortunately, the staff did not seem to be aware of which items qualified for the Meal Deal. They informed me that the items needed to be scanned again to process a refund. I explained that the items had been purchased the previous day and were no longer available. I was then advised that I should have checked my receipt on the day of purchase. My point is that if the Meal Deal discount did not apply despite me purchasing eligible items and scanning my Clubcard, the error was with Tesco's checkout system, not mine. Customers should not be expected to identify and correct scanning errors after leaving the store. I was disappointed by the lack of assistance from the staff and expected the issue to be resolved with a refund. Instead, I was left out of pocket and frustrated by the experience. As a result, I intend to avoid shopping at the Royston Tesco in the future.
